The most common problems

IMAGES

Image names can only be made up of numbers and letters.
Images MUST NOT have blank spaces in their name. If you had blank spaces in the name to make sense of what the image is on your home computer, you can replace the blank space with an  _underscore in them, otherwise the software that creates the thumbnail images for initial browsing cannot convert them into thumbnails, and responds with errors. Server side software always has this problem, so if you rename any images you want representing your property to a suitable name minus any blank spaces, you avoid this. It is probably even easier, if you copy the images you want to use, to a new folder on your computer, so you do not damage the originals, and rename them simply to 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg etc. After all, no one gets to see the name of the image, and you do get to see which image you are working with if you want to add descriptions and comments.

We do have size limits in place, that are mentioned during the listing process, HOWEVER, if you have any problems, are unsure of how to do something, or do not have suitable software to modify any images etc, you are more than welcome to send them to info@bed-and-breakfast-australia.com and one of our helpful staff will assist you.

Please check the image size and name before use,
The image limitations are:
Maximum width is 700 pixels
Maximum number of images is 7
Maximum size of all images combined is 500K
Format "jpg","gif" or "png" format only.

Please note: As above, if you have images with blank spaces in the name, like
"this is a horse.jpg" instead of correct naming of
"this_is_a_horse.jpg", you will get a double error quoting
"Warning: getimagesize..(message)..edit_listings_images.php on line 175"
and
"Warning: filesize..(message)..edit_listings_images.php on line 178"

MISSING INFORMATION

If you get an error message stating "You forgot to fill out one of the required fields" please go back and check the fields with asterisks are in fact filled out. If you did not miss any fields, then the most likely problem is you are in fact trying to fill out the "register as a new user" page for a second time, not the "property listing" page. Once you complete registration as a user, the system records that information, so if you try and fill out the same thing again, the system cannot create a second record that is a duplicate, so it considers you have made a mistake. If you are wanting to add or alter your recorded details, this is not the appropriate place, please log into the system HERE INSTEAD

PASSWORDS

Quite a few people now have complained that they forgot their password, and when attempting to retrieve it, it came back as a jumble of letters. Our software is no different to software at banks and other institutions, and as such, security is always an issue. For this reason, just like those other institutions, we do not have access to your password, so if you forgot your password, a new one is actually generated by the server and sent to you, to allow you access back into the system, and once you have logged back in, you may change the password to whatever you choose. We apologise if the wording on the site was not more concise at the beginning, but this has now been altered to reflect this. Please remember, the people creating the site are techs, not users, so sometimes something seems obvious to a tech, that would not be obvious to a user. With your patience, assistance and constructive criticism, we will make a fantastic site.

WEATHER

Weather records are provided courtesy of the United States Governments National Weather Service which in turn is compiled via data received from Meteorological weather sites located at Australian Civil Aviation Authority Airports. Although this information should be updated hourly, errors sometimes occur, and information can be occasionally either over an hour old, or not available at all for short periods of time. ALSO this is a courtesy service, and obviously not all areas have Civil Aviation Authority Airports, nor do all provide weather collection equipment. The reasons should be obvious therefore why we may not have weather information specific to your exact location.

ACCOUNT NOT ACTIVE

After you create your property listing, and upload any images, if you try and preview your site, you will get a message stating your account is not active. This is a security precaution, to prevent abuse of the system. Your listing will be inspected for approval by one of our webmasters to make sure it is correct, and then activated to be seen by the world. This is a precautionary step to prevent spammers and the like. The last thing anyone wants is for inappropriate advertising or information to be forced on our potential customers.

LOCATIONS

Several people have mentioned that not all areas are individually represented. We will alter this as time goes by, in accordance with constructive criticism, advice and the number of listings in each area. There was however no point in creating all sorts of fancy areas, but have no listings in them. I am sure most of you out there have felt the frustration before in going to a site, and clicking on a link of something you are interested in, only to be given a page with "Sorry, currently there are no listings that meet your criteria". For those of you who have met these pages before, you know what your most common reaction is, you close the website and go in search of another. Now none of us want that do we?

SITE DESIGN AND LAYOUT

Please also bear in mind, we are creating this website with the goal in mind of the end user, the person who will make a booking for your property. There are many websites out there, (some that the programmers here have been directly contracted on or involved with) that whilst are fantastic in the department of eye candy or "bells and whistles", result in very few sales. Most buyers of any product, want to get to the basic information, and conclude their purchase as quick as possible. We want to make as many bookings for your property as possible.
